RIP Queensland Health:

http://au.news.yahoo.com/queensland/a/-/latest/12323775/queensland-health-abolished-in-wake-of-fraud-scandal/

With the 15 Million dollar scam by a Queensland Health executive the last straw, Premier Anna Bligh has abolished Queensland’s largest employer. It is said that the beleaguered department will now be split in two: one part looking after hospital operations (the frontline) and the another part looking after the business side of things – payroll, contracts, bureaucracy…

One question employees will now have: What happens to our contracts next year? Do we need new bargaining agreements? and a lot more…

Hopefully, questions start getting answered!

For sale post for a friend living in Brisbane. She trying to sell all her AMC stuff:

"Am having a garage sale next Saturday 12th November at Skye Place in Upper Kedron, (near Brisbane) from 0730 till 12 midday. Looking to sell 3 big bags of medical textbooks, mainly accrued for AMC purposes. Nothing greater than 10 bucks, most less than 5, just need to shift them. Everything from ED, medicine, paeds, O&G... Sone MCQ books etc..."

She has the AMC reviewers that most people need to buy. If you want them ahead of time, I can pass on my email. She won't ship the books so you have to get it from her!

Dear Colleagues,

The inquiry is soon drawing to a close.  As a group, we need to send a clear message as to what we feel is necessary to improve the system.  Unfortunately, we don’t have the time to organize ourselves into a functional entity that represents the diversity of IMGs impacted by the system of discrimination and prejudice in Australia.  Consequently, I would like to recommend that we submit our recommendations as a collective group.  I have attached a draft of recommendations for your review.  Central to these recommendations is the formation of an IMG advisory and support agency which would provide a voice for IMGs within the system.  While this will not solve all the problems it would be an important first step in securing a voice for IMGs in the system.

Unfortunately we have we need to get these recommendations to the committee no later than September 19 which does not leave a lot of time for consultation and editing.  Consequently, I need to know if you are willing to be a signatory to these recommendations no later than September 18!  While I appreciate any recommendations for changes I may not be able to accommodate all suggestions before the deadline.  You do need to keep in mind that the document and signatures will probably be made public.

Please fill out the attached form if you are willing to endorse these recommendations and/or are willing to contribute to improving the system.

Thank you all in advance for your support!

Kind regards,

Sue Douglas MD CCFP (Canada)
